You Are the Best

It's been a while since I've played along with the Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge.  I had started coloring this with Copics but didn't get it finished.  When I saw the challenge of "flowers", I knew it would be perfect and I needed a thank you card.  I didn't do a lot of blending but decided to simply color the flowers.  I love the bright colors.  I really enjoy using this Cutting Edge - Flowers stamp set and die from Taylored Expressions

Stamp Sets:  Cutting Edge - Flowers (Taylored Expressions); So Very Much (Stampin' Up!)
Inks:  Night of Navy (Stampin' Up!); Oreo Hybrid (Taylored Expressions)
Cardstock:  Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions)
Dies:  Cutting Edge - Flowers Die (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Glitter Gems (Triveni Crafts)

Today's card was made for the Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Thanks

It's been a while since I've made a card for the Retro Rubber Challenge.  I loved the sketch for this challenge.  I decided to do black, gray and white with just a pop of Strawberry Slush.  I seem to neglect my Jar of Love stamp set so I pulled it off the shelf and got busy.  It also fits the year or older stamp set requirement of the challenge as it's from the 2016-17 Annual Catalog.  I rather like the way this turned out.

Stamp Set:  Jar of Love (Stampin' Up!)
Inks:  Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Strawberry Slush, Sahara Sand (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock:  Oreo, Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions)
Dies:  Stitched Oval Stacklets (Taylored Expressions); Everyday Jars Framelits (Stampin' Up!)
Other:  1" White Nylon Ribbon (May Arts); Whisper White Embossing Powder, Pearl Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

Today's card was made using the sketch from the Retro Rubber Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Hi everyone!  It's time for another challenge from The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week I'm excited to be your host. With Memorial Day just a few days away, the challenge is to create a project using poppies.  Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day set aside to remember and honor those men and women who died while serving their country in the military.  The poppy was inspired by the World War I poem, "In Flanders Fields" written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

From My Two Lips

It's late and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard but I just had to share this card I made for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge before I shut down for the night.

It was the perfect sketch for me to use with the Maymay's Two Lips stamp set.  I love all the different sentiments and lip images.  One image was stamped using Poppy Seed ink but I stamped off so it would leave just a soft image.  The red pair of lips was colored using Real Red ink.  I did fussy cut the red lips out and added them next to the sentiment and popped them up on dimensionals.  Clean and simple and just fun to make.

Stamp Set:  Maymay's Two Lips (Maymay Made It)
Inks:  Real Red (Stampin' Up!); Oreo Hybrid, Poppy Seed (Taylored Expressions)
Cardstock:  Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Sequin

The sketch I used is from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Morning Glory Birthday

It has been a while since I've been able to play along with The Flower Challenge.  I've had a lot going on in my life over the past six months, that I've felt like I've been meeting myself coming and going.  Now that it seems things are settling down, I'm wanting to get back to doing what I love, entering challenges.

Today's card features a new stamp set from Altenew.  It's Build-A-Flower:  Morning Glory and I do love it.  It's one of their layering stamps and I must admit that I have fallen in love with layered stamping.  After stamping the different layers of ink, I clear embossed the flowers to give them a bit of a shine.  It doesn't show up well in the photo but looks very pretty.  The dotted Vellum layer is another piece I had in my scrap stash and it made a perfect backdrop for the morning glories.

Stamp Sets:  Build-A-Flower:  Morning Glory (Altenew); From All of Us - sentiment (Maymay Made It)
Inks:  Poppy Seed, Peapod, Lime Zest, Confetti Cake, Cookie Monster (Taylored Expressions); Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Night of Navy (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock:  Pool Party (Stampin' Up!); Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions); Dotted Vellum (Unknown)
Dies:  Build-A-Flower:  Morning Glory Dies (Altenew)
Other:  Clear Embossing Powder, Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

I'm entering my card in the following challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Just A Note

Hello and welcome to another rainy, storm filled day in Iowa.  Severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings means it is Spring.  I love the rain but the stormy stuff I can so do without.

Today I wanted to share another lesson project I made during a recent class I took at Altenew Academy.  I had the the privilege to win a free class and it was For the Love of Color.  It shared various ways to add color to your cards and it was such fun.  This card was done using sticky tape and glitter.  I had never thought of using the two together.  Once the glitter was applied to the sticky tape, we used markers to lay down the color.  In my case, they were the Stampin' Write Markers from Stampin' Up!  You can use alcohol markers but the glitter can do a real number on the brushes.  The markers I used held up well and I didn't have any frayed brushes when done.  I love how this one turned out and will likely use this technique again.

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches worked perfectly for this card.  The only thing I changed was placing my sentiment at the top rather than at the bottom.

Stamp Set:  Stitched Stems Stamp & Die Combo (Taylored Expressions)
Ink:  Oreo Hybrid (Taylored Expressions)
Stampin' Write Markers:  Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, Sweet Sugar plum, Rich Razzleberry, Dusty Durango, Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Stitched Oval Stacklets Dies, Double-ended Flag Stacklets Dies (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Brick Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Scor-Tape (Scor-Pal), Glitter

The sketch I used is from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

WWC168 - Helen's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

This week Helen is hosting our Feminine "Anything Goes" challenge at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  I decided to share one of the cards I made in a new class that I won from Altenew.  It was one of the best classes I've taken.  The instructor, Julia Altermann, is an excellent teacher and I learned a lot from her.

Our first lesson was about layering stamps, which I love.  The one I used is called Painted Poppy by Altenew.  And, I actually used glitter and didn't make a mess.  I'm so proud of me!  I usually have it all over me, the floor and anywhere else it can go.  Let's just say my experience with glitter has not been a good one.  Learning a new way to stick it down using sticky tape has made me fall in love with glitter all over again.  I love the sparkle it can add to your project.

Stamp Set:  Painted Poppy (Altenew), Background Bits (Stampin' Up!)
Inks:  Lemon Meringue, Plum Punch, Confetti Cake, Cookie Monster, Strawberry Milkshake, Guava, Pea Pod, Lime Zest, Oreo Hybrid, Poppy Seed (Taylored Expressions)
Cardstock:  Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Gold Glitter, Sequins
