So, between chores and cleaning and sorting and again, rearranging my craft room, I managed to sit down and make this simple but pretty butterfly card. It's another of those I made for my "thinking of you" stash. These days it seems that I have more family and friends who live away than close by to share a cup of coffee. Sigh, I think my three sons should have taken me with them when they all moved out west, don't you? 😉
Stamp Set: Wetlands - sentiment (Stampin' Up!); Inks: Tim Holtz's Fossilized Amber Oxide and Spiced Marmalade (Ranger), Soft Suede (Stampin' Up!); Cardstock: Soft Suede, Whisper White (both Stampin' Up!); Patterned Paper: Gabrielle (Bo Bunny), Succelent Garden (Stampin' Up!); Other: Butterflies Thinlits Dies (Stampin' Up!), Simply Stamped - Butterflies Dies (Taylored Expressions)
The theme I used is from the Retro Rubber Challenge. It's an anything goes and one of my favorite kind of theme. But, you have to use a stamp that is a year old or older. For this one I used the sentiment from Wetlands which is from the 2013 Annual Catalog.
The sketch I used is from the Sunday Stamps Challenge. I loved the simplicity of this sketch. I've been using up bits and pieces of things I have laying around my desk and the butterfly patterned paper was perfect to showcase that bright Calypso Coral butterfly.
So glad you stopped by the Coffee Pot Stamping Cafe,
Marsha
Hello Marsha: So happy you shared this beautiful card with us over at RETRO RUBBER, love that pattern paper with the butterflies but your bright red butterfly really pops off the page, just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe font on that sentiment is indeed so beautiful, I have that set and I need to use it again.
Thank you also for your sweet comment on my Pansy Garden card and you are so very welcome about the tip on the Wink of Stella brushes, I hope it works for you too. I was so amazed at how much of the glitter remains inside the chamber once your brush feels dry, just be careful when you fill it with water, make sure it wont spill.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful card with us at RETRO RUBBER, hope you play again next time.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
Thanks, Maria! Retro Rubber is one of my favorite challenges so I'll be back! Wish me luck that I can figure out those brushes.
DeleteI recognise that Retro Stamp - I have it myself and love it! Such lovely DSP you've used here and it provides a good backdrop for your vibrant Calypso butterfly. Thanks for joining us again at Retro Rubber.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jan! Wetlands is a favorite stamp set and one of my go to for masculine cards.
DeleteThis is great, the pop of colour that your butterfly brings is really nice. Thanks for joining us this time at Retro Rubber. Claire DT
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire! I wasn't sure that the bright color would work with the muted tone of the patterned paper.
DeleteWhat a pretty card! I love the use of the butterfly for the circle portion of the sketch! My daughter is moving to OK in a few weeks for her boyfriends job so I'll need more of these type of cards also, they'll be a long way from Alaska :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along with us at Sunday Stamps!
Thanks, Lisa! My three sons have all moved to Reno, so I know what you mean about needing more of the thinking of you cards.
