Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #87

It's Masculine challenge week here at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.  Kath is hosting and it's an "anything goes" kind of card.  I love making "anything goes" projects.  No specific direction; you are free to let your mind take you where it will when creating.  For my card, I chose to use a retired stamp set, The Open Sea.  It is one of my favorites and it works well for a masculine card.  Since I have my three sons' birthdays coming up over the next few months, it was a perfect time to design a card for one of them.

Stamp Sets:  Sprinkles of Life (sentiment), The Open Sea (retired); Inks:  Crumb Cake, Island Indigo; Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White; Other:  Linen Thread, Seaside Embossing Folder

Elegant Butterfly

While going through some patterned papers a friend gave me, I came across this wonder book of vellum with coordinating paper.  The vellum has it's own design as does the patterned paper.  When I saw the sketch from The Paper Players, I decided to use two of the designs.  It doesn't show well in the photo but the lavender die-cut butterfly has script on it while the vellum die-cut butterfly has polka dots.  It's really pretty in real life.

Stamp Sets:  Papillon Potpourri (antennae), Rose Wonder (sentiment); Inks:  Elegant Eggplant; Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant, Vellum Paper Sets (Fiskars); Other: Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels

The sketch I used is from the The Paper Players Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Bushel of Blessings

Autumn is my favorite time of the year and I found two challenges that were an inspiration for the card I made for today.  I've been using up card bases left over from different events I had in days past.  It's a good way to deplete my supply of colors that have retired.  And, I absolutely love that Bushel of Blessings stamp set and Bushel of Blessings Dies from Taylored Expressions!  I've been looking for a long time for a great pumpkin set and I think I've finally found it.  I'm happy now!  :-)

Stamp Set:  Bushel of Blessings (Taylored Expressions); Inks:  Rich Razzleberry, Tuxedo Black Memento, Variety of Copic Markers; Cardstock:  Peach Parfait, Rich Razzleberry, Shimmery White, Twelve Days of Christmas Patterned Paper (Graphic 45); Other:  Bushel of Blessing Dies (Taylored Expressions), Chicken Wire Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Gold Sequins, Pearl Basic Jewels

The sketch I used is from the Share Joy Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Christmas Greetings

Monochromatic isn't necessarily that easy to do so I hope I've come close with my bit of vintage Christmas card.  I love the new Father Christmas stamp set and have been making Christmas cards for family and friends.  I've used shades of brown for my card.  Santa and the center sentiment were stamped with Early Espresso, even though it looks almost black, and the borders with Baked Brown Sugar.  I so wish that color would come out of retirement.

Stamp Set:  Father Christmas; Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso, Vintage Photo (Tim Holtz); Cardstock:  Baked Brown Sugar, Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack (retired), Very Vanilla; Other:  Linen Thread, Pearl Basic Jewels

The inspiration for my card came from the Stampin' Royalty Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

I Thank You

It has been a while since I've been able to spend the day in the craft studio creating and having fun.  Today happens to be such a day.  I've missed participating in some of my favorite challenges so I've combined two of them, the Pals Paper Arts color challenge and the Freshly Made Sketches sketch challenge, to bring you this simple and bright card.  The Paisleys & Posies stamp set has turned out to be a very versatile one that covers all types of situations.  Whether it's a birthday, a thank you or thinking of you card, you won't go wrong with this set.  I even think my little scarecrow is impressed!

Stamp Set:  Paisleys & Posies; Inks:  Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Mint Macaron; Cardstock:  Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White; Other:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop

Welcome to the September Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop!  Each month, on the third Thursday of the month, a group of us get together to hop and share projects from Stampin' Up!'s current catalogs.  It's always a lot of fun.  This month we are focusing on those products that first caught our eye when we had the chance to view the new Holiday Catalog.

You should be coming to my blog from the blog of Jan McQueen, a new addition to our hop.  After your visit with me, head on over to see what delights Fiona Whitehead has in store for you.  And, as always, our Hop runs in a circle.  Whether you start at the top and go forward or start at the bottom and go backward, you will always wind up where you started.

One of the stamp sets from the new Holiday Catalog that I knew I had to have was Christmas Magic.  I love all the stamps in this set and know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.  My first card is one I made for my youngest granddaughter.  I put the snowman from Christmas Magic in one of the jars from the Jar of Love stamp set then, cut it out with the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies.  He is such a cute little snowman.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Magic, Jar of Love; Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Garden Green, Smoky Slate, Sweet Sugarplum, Tangerine Tango; Cardstock:  Emerald Envy, Shimmery White, Sweet Sugarplum; Other:  Everyday Jars Framelits Dies, Emerald Envy Baker's Baker Twine, Silver Gelly Roll Pen, Silver Sequin Trim, Softly Falling Embossing Folder

My next card also features the Christmas Magic stamp set.  I love this train image.  Reminds me of the one in the movie Polar Express.  My cards this year are mostly in non-traditional colors as you can see.  The only I colored on the train is the greenery and the bows and the gold ornaments.

Stamp Set:  Christmas Magic; Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy, Shimmery White, Whisper White; Other:  Gold Gelly Roll Pen, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

My last card was made using the Father Christmas stamp set.  This set and the Christmas Magic set were my must haves from the Holiday Catalog.  I love them both.  I did this one in Dapper Denim and Crumb Cake with a touch of gold in the cording down the left side.

Stamp Set:  Father Christmas; Ink:  Crumb Cake; Cardstock:  2016-2018 In Color Designer Paper Stack, Dapper Denim, Crumb Cake, Whisper White; Other:  Gold Cording

Next in line is Fiona Whitehead.  Click on the image below to head over to see her projects.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #85

It's a color challenge this week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges and Jean has given us three great colors with which to work.  As you can see, I am still captivated by the Paisleys & Posies stamp set and the Paisley Framelits Dies.  These are both from the new Holiday Catalog which comes out on September 1st.  And, let's not forget that new Copper Embossing Powder found in the Annual Catalog.  The small images were heat embossed with the copper then, cut using the dies.

Stamp Set:  Paisleys & Posies; Inks:  Tuxedo Black Memento, VersaMark; Cardstock:  Basic Black, Whisper White; Other:  Copper Embossing Powder, Paisley Framelits Dies, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #84

It's time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  For this one, I paired the August 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit with Deborah's great sketch.  All of the product you see used in this card came from the kit.  The only thing I added not found in the kit is the one rhinestone in the center of the flower.  The colors are Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron and Tangerine Tango.  It's another card for my note card stash.

Stamp Set:  Bold Botanicals; Ink:  Early Espresso; Cardstock:  Paper Pumpkin Kit; Other:  Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Enjoy the Moment

You may or may not know that I am a huge Downton Abbey fan.  A while back I was able to purchase a few stamps and dies that are all about Downton Abbey.  One of my favorite is this clock that I used on today's card.  I decided to do a blue on cream and keep it really simple.  Next time I'm going to do a whole lot of coloring and make those flowers pop.

Stamp Set:  A Moment In Time (Downtown Abbey Collection); Inks:  Early Espresso, Marina Mist; Cardstock:  Very Vanilla

The inspiration for my card came fro the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Bright Music

Here we have another card destined for my note card stash.  I'm thinking this one will go to one of my grandsons.  I always try to make up some cards that are easy to mail so they don't get damaged in the mail and don't require extra postage.  This one is perfect.  I've not used Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry together in a while and I love how well they complement each other.

Stamp Sets:  Sitting Here (sentiment), Timeless Textures; Inks:  Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand; Cardstock:  Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, Whisper White; Other:  Sheet Music Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim
