Crushed Curry Petals

Wow!  It isn't often that three challenges come along that can fit one card.  I love it when that happens.  It needed to be clean and simple using the code word "petals" for the Addicted to CAS Challenge so I used some cute little flowers.  The top row of the Tic-Tac-Toe was my choice for The Paper Players Challenge, which is why I made the Crushed Curry twine.  For the one year old or older stamp set to show off some May flowers for the Retro Rubber Challenge, I used the Nature's Perfection stamp set from the 2015 Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  How do you think I did?

One of the things I never have on hand is the right color of baker's twine.  So, I keep plenty of white in the drawer.  Why?  I can make it any color I want.  Now, how cool is that!  The Whisper White Baker's Twine was dyed using Crushed Curry ink and a Blending Tool.  Simple!

You can't see it, but the Crushed Curry flowers were coated with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush.  The shimmer looks so nice on those little flowers.

Christmas Card Challenges #26

Hello and welcome to this week's color challenge from Christmas Card Challenges.  Before I get to the makings of my card, I want to take this opportunity to let you all know that this will be my last post as a Design Team member at Christmas Card Challenges.  Since June of 2014 I have been honored to be a part of this team.  I'm sad to be leaving but there are other things in my life right now that are demanding my attention and energies.   I've enjoyed it very much and loved having all my Christmas cards done through out the year.

Now onto my card.  For the card base I used Early Espresso cardstock.  I added a layer of Calypso Coral then, a layer of Whisper White that I embossed using the Boho Chic Embossing Folder.  The Calypso Coral Baker's Twine was wrapped around the white layer four times and tied into a bow.  I popped that layer up with some Dimensionals.  The circles were cut from Calypso Coral and Whisper White using the Circle Collections Framelits Dies.  The stars are punched from Real Red using the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of each.  The sentiment is from the Reason for the Season stamp set and was stamped using Real Red ink.

Moonlight in the Mountains

Just a quick post for you before this day is over.  The other day I found this very nice card that Dawn Griffin had made and knew I had to CASE it.  Basically the same but a little different.  Here is her video link if you'd like to know what she did:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCu6k0B_Fpw.

Stamp Set:  In the Meadow; Inks:  Basic Black Archival, Early Espresso, Soft Sky; Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Gold Foil Sheets, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Dazzling Diamonds

Tomorrow I'll share a project that has been on my craft table for a while and I've almost got it done.  It's one of those that has to be done in stages so everything can dry.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #69

Today Kath is hosting a Clean And Simple (CAS) challenge with a Masculine theme.  My card is actually a Father's Day card for one of my sons.  I like the clean and simple ones when I have to mail them.

For this one, I used Night of Navy for my card base.  On a layer of Whisper White, I masked off so I could sponge some Night of Navy ink over the open area.  The image and sentiment are from the In the Meadow.  The trees are stamped in Lost Lagoon ink and the sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy ink.  And that is as simple as it gets.

A Clean and Simple Oh, Hello

Today finds me on the road again but before I took off down that road, I combined two of my favorite challenges, CAS(E) this Sketch and Sunday Stamps to make a very clean and simple card.  Many times I'll make a card, write a note and send it on it's way.  I always try to make them as simple as possible to avoid extra postage.  This card fits that nicely.  It is a single layer with stamping only on it.  My oldest son is moving out of state so it just might wind up in his mailbox once he gets settled.

Stamp Sets:  Swirly Bird, Honeycomb Happiness (retired); Inks:  Cucumber Crush, Night of Navy, Tempting Turquoise; Cardstock:  Whisper White

The sketch I used is from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Soaring Birthday Plane

It has turned out to be a very busy day for me but I wanted to share this guy card I made for one of the tenants who lives in my building.  I'm always on the lookout for a new challenge and I found The Male Room Challenge.  With three sons, seven grandsons and all those with birthdays here at my apartment building, I make a lot of masculine cards.

One of the things I'm trying to do is perfect creating scenes with stamps, paper and ink.  The more I practice, the better I hope to get at it.  It's fun as I get to use more than one stamp on a card.

Stamp Sets:  In the Meadow, Sky is the Limit; Inks:  Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Old Olive, So Saffron, Soft Suede, Smoky Slate; Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Whisper White

I've entered this card in the current The Male Room Challenge.  I had hoped to try out for the Design Team but I didn't submit for last week as I just found the challenge today so I'll try again another time.  For all the challenge details, click on the image below.

Wish Big

As promised yesterday, here is the card I made for the Share Joy Challenge.  For the challenge, we can use the sketch or make something that is clean and simple or do both.  It's just what strikes your fancy.   Given my new love affair with Clean And Simple (CAS), I opted to use the sketch and make it clean and simple.  While neither are showing up well in the photo, I used my new Weathered Embossing Folder to give some texture to larger white layer and I filled in the cutout word "wish" using a Wink of Stella Brush.  The card in real life looks really good and with the all white, those colors really stand out.  Don't you think so?

Stamp:  Wish Big (Taylored Expressions; Inks:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Postage Stamp Stacklets (Taylored Expressions), Weathered Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Sequins, Clear Wink of Stella Brush

The inspiration for my card came from the Share Joy Challenge.  For all of the challenge details, click on the image below.

Anniversary Celebration

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend an Anniversary Celebration at the Taylored Expressions Studio.  As we walked in the door, Taylor greeted each of us and handed us the Wish Big Stamp & Die Combo as a gift for attending.  It was also what we used for the make and take which is the card I've shared below.  I don't know the names of any of the product we used, but I just love the way the card turned out.

It was a very enjoyable evening meeting new people who all share my passion for crafting and card making.

Come back tomorrow to see the card I made for the Share Joy Challenge also using this stamp set.

Christmas Card Challenges #25

This week's photo inspiration challenge at Christmas Card Challenges is such a fun one.  Those round red and white peppermint candies remind me of my grandmother.  She loved those things and kept them around all year long.

For the card base I used Real Red cardstock.  After stamping the little trees from the Christmas Bliss stamp set using Cucumber Crush ink onto some Whisper White, I attached it to the top of the card base.  The patterned paper is from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink and it's also from the Christmas Bliss stamp set.  Then, I punched it out using the Decorative Label Punch.  I added Rhinestone Basis Jewels to the center of the candies and around the sentiment on the label.  I think it's definitely 'merry' & ' bright!'

Wacky Watercooler May Mashup Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Wacky Watercooler May Mashup Blog Hop.  This month we are sharing something retiring, something new and something masculine.  You're sure to find lots of wonderful projects to ignite your creativity.  The hop goes round and round so no matter where you start, all you need to do is hit the "Next" button to make your way through all the participating blogs.  It's a small circle this month but I know you are going to love all the projects you see.

For my first project I decided to make it masculine as I needed another Father's Day card.  I used mostly retiring product.  The Basic Black layer is from the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the image of the ship from The Open Sea stamp set using Basic Black Archival ink.  I used the Circles Collection Framelits Dies to cut out a circle.  Then, I sponged some Lost Lagoon ink and Hello Honey ink to give the appearance of sunshine and water.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I stamped it in Basic Black Archival ink then, punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  I popped up the circle and label with Dimensionals.  For the final touch I added a few sequins from the Silver Sequin Trim and mounted the layer onto a Whisper White card base.

My next project is actually the one I had originally planned for my masculine card.  When I realized I needed two more Father's Day cards, I made the first card masculine, too.  Now I have all the cards I need.

This one was fun to create.  I made my own background using Whisper White Baker's Twine wrapped around an acrylic block and alternated the direction of the pattern as I stamped.  It is stamped on Whisper White using Dapper Denim ink.  On a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped Happy Father's Day using the Crazy about You stamp set.  It's stamped using Dapper Denim ink.  Over that, I stamped an image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I used Emerald Envy ink but stamped off a couple of times to give it a more muted look.  Once the stamping was done, I used the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies to cut it out.  I also added a layer of Dapper Denim behind it also using the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies.  For the finishing touch on this card, I added some Silver Mini Brads and used Dimensionals to pop up the label.  The card base is Whisper White Card.

My final project was fun to put together even though there was a bit of fussy cutting to it.  This is my something new card.  I wanted to showcase some of the new 2016-2018 In Colors as well as the new Sitting Here stamp set.

The card base is Whisper White.  Then, I added a layer of the new Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.  The trees, the grass and those cute little Dapper Denim butterflies are from the In the Meadow stamp set.  I stamped the trees using Basic Black Archival ink.  I colored the tree trunks with a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker.  Using a Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker, I added color to the leaves of the trees and the grass at the base of the trees.  The other grass was stamped using Wild Wasabi ink.

On a piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the porch swing and colored it using a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker.  The cushion has Dapper Denim stripes.  Then, I fussy cut the swing using Paper Snips and a craft knife and popped it up with Dimensionals.  The cat sitting on the swing is from the Sitting Here stamp set,  I stamped it on Peekaboo Peach cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink and cut out the image.  The gray tabby cat was stamped onto Whisper White using Basic Black Archival ink and colored with Smoky Slate ink.  I cut it out and popped up him with Dimensionals.  The orange tabby cat was attached to the swing using glue dots.  The sentiment is stamped using Emerald Envy ink.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #68

This week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges, Libby is hosting a color challenge.  The 2014-2016 In Colors will be retiring at the end of May so she challenged us to use three of the five colors.  I managed to use four of them.

My card base is made from Hello Honey card stock.  On Whisper White, I stamped the images from the April Paper Pumpkin All About Everything stamp set.  In that kit they included a second stamp set and this is it.  It's a flower stamp set and I'm so excited!  I love flowers.  I'm sure you couldn't tell that from the projects I've been making lately.  I'm blaming it on the fact that Spring is in the air.

The flowers are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey inks.  The Hello Honey is stamped off to make it just a wee bit lighter.  The leaves are all stamped in Mossy Meadow ink but the fern fronds are stamped off for a lighter look.  They are hard to see but there is cluster image on the card that I stamped using Smoky Slate ink.  The banner is stamped using Lost Lagoon for the background, again stamped off for a softer look.  I stamped the sentiment in Smoky Slate ink.  Behind the banner, I coiled some of that pretty Gold Cording.

Christmas Card Challenges #24

For the "Anything Goes" challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenges, I just had to do something in blue.  The card base is white and I added a layer of patterned paper from the Silent Night paper pack by ki memories.  It's has just a bit of a shimmer to it.  The sheer ribbon is from May Arts.  For the snowflakes I heat embossed them in Whisper White Embossing Powder onto Gold Glitzy Glitter paper by DCWV.  I punched the large snowflake using the Flower Medallion Punch and the small snowflakes using the Snow Flurry Punch.  I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of each snowflake.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #67

Hi and welcome to this week's Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.  Deb is the host this week and she has challenged us to create a box, any box.  I don't make many but this one was sure fun.  Here is the link to the instructions from Joann on how to make this box:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/splittopbox/?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign=.

The box is the size of an A2 card so any cards you put in it will be a tight squeeze.  I trimmed an 1/8" of an inch off the size of my cards and they fit nicely into the box and there is room for the envelopes, too.  I discovered the tight fit after the box was all together.

Be prepared as this is a much longer than normal post for me.  There was just no way to get around all the photos.  I wanted to give you a good view of all the things created from the box to the cards.  It's really a fun box to create and decorate.

The box is made using Whisper White card stock.  I'd definitely use the Whisper White Thick as it will make for a sturdier box but I was out of it so made due with the regular Whisper White.  All of the patterned paper I used is from the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper.  The cardstock I used for the flowers is Tangelo Twist, Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Basic Black.  All the flowers were cut using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  To make the label stronger I glued a piece of patterned paper to a piece of Hello Honey cardstock.  Then, I cut it out using the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies.  The sentiment on the front of the box is from the March Paper Pumpkin and stamped using Basic Black Archival ink.  I added Pearl Basic Jewels to the flower centers and on the label.

This is the box when opened.  I decorated the inside to match the label on the box and the card.

And, this is what will be inside the box.  I made five cards using the sentiments from the Just for You stamp set.  I added other sentiments under them using the stamp sets Big Day, You've Got This and Rose Wonder.  All were stamped using Basic Black Archival ink.  The little Cajun Craze flower was punched using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I added a Pearl Basic Jewel to it's center.  Two are birthday and two are thank you and one is all by itself.  I've included a photo of the inside of that particular card.

Happy Mother's Day

These are the beautiful flowers I received for Mother's Day from my youngest son, Mike and his wife, Jody, along with their three boys, Dustin, Zachary and Nicholas.  They look so nice sitting in front of my window.

Christmas Card Challenges #23

Good morning!  Welcome to this week's Christmas Card Challenges.  It's a color challenge with some great winter kind of colors.

For this card, I used a card base of Tip Top Taupe to which I attached a layer of Whisper White.  The sentiment is from the Reason for the Season stamp set and stamped using Basic Gray ink.  For the horizontal strip, I used Sahara Sand and added a length of crochet trim from my stash.  The poinsettia is from the Reason for the Season stamp set.  I stamped the poinsettia onto some Whisper White using VersaMark, then heat embossed it with Pewter Embossing Powder.  For the leaves I used a Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker and colored inside the leaves.  In the center of the flower, I added some Pearl Basic Jewels as well as a few on the card itself.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #66

This week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges, Libby has offered up a great sketch for us to use for our challenge.  I enjoy sketch challenges as I never know what is going to happen once I start creating.  I always follow the sketch but sometimes unexpected things just happen, like the pretty little blue flowers.

For the card base, I used Crumb Cake and added two strips from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper that just retired from Sale-A-Bration.  The patterns are the reverse of each other; swirls on one side and gradations of color on the other.  The oval was cut from Very Vanilla using the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies.  The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and stamped using Soft Suede ink.  For those cute little flowers, I used the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  The flowers are punched from Marina MistPearl Basic Jewels are the finishing touch.

A Good Day

One of the new challenges I've discovered is the Retro Rubber Challenge.  I like that they require you to use a stamp set that is a year old or older.  It's letting me pull out some that I really like and create with them again.  The "old" stamp I used is Feeling Sentimental from 2013.  It fit the bicycle theme from The Paper Players perfectly.

The card base is Whisper White.  In the upper right corner, I stamped the sun from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set in Daffodil Delight ink.  The grass is from the In the Meadow stamp set and stamped using Pear Pizzazz ink.  The bicycle from Feeling Sentimental stamp set and the sentiment from the Happy Home stamp set were both stamped using Basic Black Archival ink.  The cobble stone street or sidewalk, was made by embossing some Whisper White cardstock with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  Then, I sponged over it using Tim Holtz's Fired Brick distress ink from Ranger.

The sketch I used is from the Retro Rubber Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Flower in a Cup

Today I'm playing along with a challenge I recently discovered called Addicted to CAS.  They provided the code word "plaid."  I love plaid so I turned a tea cup into a flower vase.

It doesn't show well in the photo but I do have a layer of Whisper White on Whisper White.  I used a Ticket Corner Punch on the layer.  The flower is from the You've Got This stamp set.  I stamped  it onto Whisper White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink then, colored with yellow, green and brown Copic Sketch Markers.  (I need to practice some more.  It's been a while since I've done any coloring.)  I fussy cut it out and attached it using Dimensionals.

The tea cup is cut from patterned paper from the Generations Paper Pad from Simple Stories.  It's been in my stash and rarely used but I think the plaid made for an interesting tea cup.  On top of the cup I added a heart that I cut out using Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Both the cup and the heart were cut using the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies.  It's attached using Dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the March Paper Pumpkin Kit and stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.  A few pearls from my stash and the card was all done.

The inspiration for my card came from the Addicted to CAS Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Christmas Card Challenges #22

It's photo inspiration week at Christmas Card Challenges.  For this one I stayed with a simple red and white design.  To the Real Red card base, I attached a layer of Whisper White.  After punching out all the little flowers from Real Red cardstock using the Petite Petals Punch, I placed them in a circle to make a wreath around the sentiment.  They are mounted using Dimensionals.  Each flower has a Pearl Basic Jewel center.  The sentiment is from the Tags til Christmas stamp set and stamped using Real Red ink.
