Rainy Day Challenge

At the last minute I decided to play along with Susan's Rainy Day Challenge.  I was playing around in the craft room this morning and came across some Silver Glimmer Paper and Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper scraps.  To see all the great projects, click here.

To start things off, here is the challenge.

And here is what I created.

Stamp Sets:  25 & Counting, Tags til Christmas, Pennant Parade, Inks:  Riding Hood Red, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse; Card Stock:  Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Glimmer Paper/Silver, Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper (retired); Accessories & Tools:  1" Punch, Postage Stamp Punch, Snow Flurries Emboss Folder, Bitty Buttons

Since the challenge ends tomorrow, you can see that I really am getting in under the wire.  It was a fun challenge.

Christmas Stocking Decorations

Here is another of the items I made for my Bazaar last Saturday.  These turned out so much better than what I had anticipated.  I painted the sides and backs of the stockings with white acrylic paint, then added the card stock.  I love the way they look.  I have another set of these to do and may do them a bit different.  I'm thinking of staining the wood before adding card stock.  It's an idea percolating and I have time to make up my mind before my next craft show.

Noel Ornament Door Decoration

Saturday's Holiday Bazaar was a whole lot of fun.  Lots of people, lots of noise and lots of smiling faces.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are my two favorite holidays.  Here is a door or wall hanging I made for my display table.  I've included a close up of each of the ornaments so you could see some of the detail.  I kept them simple and only added a bit of Crumb Cake Ruffled Tulle Ribbon and Pearl Basic Jewels.

Christmas Gift Tag

Lately, I've been having a lot of fun making Gift Tags.  Now that Christmas is approaching, and I have a Christmas Gift Tag Class on the calendar, I've been playing around with ideas of what tags to make.  This one was made using MDS2.  It's very simple but I like the way it turned out.

Stamp Brush Set:  A Holly, Jolly Christmas; Inks:  Raspberry Ripple, Midnight Muse; Card Stock:  Christmas Jingle Designer Series Paper, Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Silver Brads colored Raspberry Ripple, Perfect Pennants Punch

I love MDS2!  And, with the Digital Scrapbooking Day approaching with free downloads and 50% off digital kits, it's going to be even more fun.  Watch for more details on Monday, October 29th!

A Happy Birthday

Yesterday found me out of town all the day long so create time was very limited.  Today is my youngest sister's birthday and while I did deliver a handmade card yesterday, I thought I'd make a quick and simple one using MDS2.

Stamps:  Thoughts & Prayers, Hugs & Wishes; Ink:  Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Happy Birthday Designer Series Paper, Barely Banana; Accessories & Tools:  Rounded Corner Punch

And, remember to check back on October 29th for additional news about FREE downloads and 50% off ALL digital kits.

Picture

Today find's me out of town and away from my computer so I'm simply going to share another of the wonderful pictures I find at www.morguefile.com.  I have used photos from there on several occasions.

Fall pumpkins make great tasting pies!  For the last two years at Thanksgiving, my daughter-in-law, Jody, has made pumpkin pies from scratch using real pumpkin.  They have been some of the best tasting pies I've ever eaten.  Hopefully, she make some more this year along with her scrumptious cranberry salad.

Nic's 6th Birthday

What do you get when five adults, six kids and one dog get together?  You get a Saturday afternoon that was a fun packed time of celebration in honor of Nic's sixth birthday.  His theme for this year was Angry Birds.  Of course, I didn't know that before I made his card so he got owls.  At least they are birds!

Stamp(s):  Word Play, Delightful Dozen (on inside of card); Ink(s):  Tempting Turquoise; Card stock:  Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper (retired). Cheerful Treat Designer Series Paper (retired); Accessories & Tools:  Owl Builder Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

This is a CASE of a card I saw online and thought it would be a good one for Nic.  He is quite the character.  Cute, sweet, ornery, bright and full of energy.

Photo Tray Gift

This is one of the projects I made last Christmas.  Mine features photos of my mother and her parents.  I used Spice Cake Designer Series Paper but that paper is now retired.  I'm making a new one using Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper, Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit and will post it as soon as it is done.

If you'd like one of your own or to give as a gift, please contact me at marsha@coffeepotstampingcafe.com with your name and phone number so I can get in touch with you with what you have in mind for yours.

Happy Birthday, Nicholas Chance Reed!

Today is Nic's sixth birthday but we will be celebrating with a cookout tomorrow.  I have a card made for his birthday but won't share it here until after he has had a chance to see it.  So, I fired up MDS2 and here is what I designed.

MDS2 - How Sweet It Is!

Yes, today I took the plunge and upgraded my digital software from My Digital Studio (MDS) to MDS2.  My plan was to wait but there are some projects I want to make but couldn't use the downloads I recently purchased as they required the new version of MDS.  I'm still learning all the new features but here is what I created when playing around this morning.

I didn't write down the components I used, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.  I'll be happy to look them up for you.

Cherry Cobbler and White Christmas Card

This is last years' Christmas card but it still remains one of my favorites.  This year I'm going to revive it but use Midnight Muse and Silver Glimmer Paper.  With a new Christmas Stamp A Stack on the calendar, I've been busy designing and preparing for it.  Should time allow, I'll be sure to share some of them with you.  With my current schedule, it is going to difficult to make sure I have time to post here daily.  It's a busy, fun time of the year and do so love it!

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As A Tree, Joy (retired), Itty Bitty Backgrounds (retired); Inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White Craft; Card Stock:  Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White; Accessories:  Dazzling Details

A Day of Recovery

A two-day craft show just takes all the energy out of me.  Then, I woke up at two this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.  Add my little two-year old go getter to the mix and I've just not been creative at all today.  Sigh...  I have so much to do to get ready for a full month of more craft shows.  Maybe I'll be all put back together tomorrow.

A Very Proud Grandma!

My oldest granddaughter, Bailey, posted this picture to Facebook so I copied it so I could make a scrapbook page using My Digital Studio.  Although I don't know her well, she stole a little piece of my heart from the moment I first laid eyes on her when she was just a wee babe.

My Day of Rest and Worship

The Beauty of Autumn

Other than the two challenges I try to do each week, I've not had much time to create.  I've been working on an order for journals I received and need to deliver this weekend when I head back to Boone for a Craft Show.  I have the journals covered but now comes the really fun part... decorating and embellishing.  Since I've nothing new to share with you, I'm sharing some fall color.  While this is not an Iowa photo, it does show some of the same color I've seen in the trees this fall.  It won't be long and there won't be any color left.  Enjoy!

Color Me Beautiful Challenge 6

Here is this weeks' Color Me Beautiful Challenge.  I needed to take a break from finishing up an order for journals so I played with the colors we were given.  I don't use a lot of pink but I do like the way this one looks.  To check out the Color Me Beautiful Blog, just click on the first photo.

To start, here is the color challenge they gave us.  I love how they present them and they are always so pretty.  I had to use at least three of the colors and the only color I didn't use this time was the Basic Gray.  I've used that color so much lately, that I don't have any of it left.  Guess it's time to order some more as it seems to be popping up a lot in challenges and such.

This is the card I created for this challenge.  As you can see, I love flowers.  I make a lot of flowers as well as stamp a lot of flowers.  I miss the flower garden I once had.  I always had fresh cut flowers all over the house.  Now I get to make paper ones that will last longer.  It's a good substitute.

Stamp Set(s):  Trust God, Language of Friendship; Ink(s):  Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke; Card Stock:  Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette; Accessories & Tools:  Little Leaves Sizzlits, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Dazzling Details, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Crystal Effects

For the vase, I made a circle and trimmed one edge off to give me a straight line.  Yes, I know, the bottom is round so the vase will roll but... it sets in a wrought iron wire hanging basket!  :-)

Fab Friday Challenge 3

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to join in the challenge this time around.  It's been a full two weeks and it looks to be the norm for the next couple of months.  While my little man was taking his nap, I was able to get my project done.  I have been in a 'blue' mood lately, so kept to that theme for this one.  All but the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper and the Modern Label are bits and pieces of card stock that had already been cut or punched.

To start things off, here is the sketch we were challenged to use.

And, here is the end product inspired by that sketch.  I really enjoy their challenges.

Stamp Set(s):  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink(s):  Marina Mist; Card Stock:  Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Blossom Punch, Modern Label Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels (colored with permanent marker), Stampin' Dimensionals

Now it's time for me to get busy in the kitchen.  It's Tuesday night and a friend and I get together to have supper and watch our favorite TV programs.  We always have a good time!

Can Do Cancer Fundraiser

Friday night found me at the Can Do Cancer Fundraiser.  For a first time event, it went well.  The gift tag make and take we did was a hit.  I had two young girls come in with their mother and they each wanted to make one, so I said why not and helped them each make a tag.  They just had all the fun!

Today I'm sharing a few pictures I took of my display table and the work area where I had the Make & Take set up.

And, there you have it.  It was fun.  I always enjoy meeting all the new people.  Next weekend finds me back in Boone.  If you get a chance stop in and say hi.  You can find all the information about my coming craft shows under the Craft Show Schedule tab at the top of the page.

Gift Tag Make & Takes

Tomorrow I'll share a few pictures of my display at the Can Do Cancer Fundraiser in which I participated.  Today, I'm featuring the gift tag Make & Take we made.  It's from a design inspired by Linda Creech.

Due to time constraints, I had most of the work done.  But, they stamped the image, punched out the label and assembled the project.

Here is a photo of the gift tag examples I made.  I used scraps of card stock but the colors for the ones made at the event were Wild Wasabi, Real Red and Very Vanilla.  The image and sentiment were stamped onto Very Vanilla and punched using the Decorative Label Punch.  The ones we made Friday were all embossed using the Square Lattice Folder like the one on the right.

Stamp(s):  Four Frames, Tiny Tags; Ink(s):  Lucky Limeade, Real Red; Wild Wasabi; Card Stock:  Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Label Collection Framelits, Decorative Label Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, 1/16" Circle Punch, 1/8" Mini Brads/Silver, Baker's Twine/Whisper White, Mini Glue Dots, Paper-Piercing Tool, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Snowburst Embossing Folder (retired), Snow Flurries Folder

Cute little tags to add to that gift bag.  They were fun to make.

My Day of Rest and Worship

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
 The hour I first believed

My chains are gone, I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Christmas Refrigerator Magnets

I love making these refrigerator magnets.  And, that is saying a lot given the fact that I stand getting glue stuff, or anything else, on my fingers.  :-)   It took me nearly two years to accept that ink on my fingers was going to be a normal part of my life now that I was a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator.  I really need to invest in some disposable gloves.

These were made using up scraps of Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I'm not going to list them because they are now retired and I didn't tag the container with where each came from.  Sorry about that.  The 1" Circle Punch is the perfect size for these clear glass pebbles.  I punched out a circle from the DSP and from the magnetic sheet, then attached them to the back of the pebble using Crystal Effects.  Even though the magnet is self-sticking, I still use Crystal Effects just to insure the magnet doesn't pop off.  Yes, that is the voice of experience speaking.

Be sure to check out the special Christmas promotion from Stampin' Up!®  This link will take you to my online store where you can find more details:  October Only.

Happy Birthday, Wayne

My oldest son's birthday is today.  In my hurry to get his card made and in the mail on Monday, I forgot to take a picture of it.  DUH!  Just another 'senile' moment for my boys to tease me about.  Of course, that is if I tell them.  They never read my blog so they have no idea what I tell you about them.  So, in lieu the card, I made a scrapbook page using My Digital Studio.

The card I sent him was made using the retired Motorcycle Stamp.  My friend and llama sister, Buffy, sent hers to me and I stamped a bunch of images so I'd have them for future use.  Thanks, Buffy, you're the best!

When my three boys get together, you just never know what will happen or how they will act.  Wayne was back for a visit and this was the first time he had seen the motorcycle that his youngest brother, Mike, was building for him.  When it's finished, I'll take some close up photos so you can see the detail.  It's really unique!

Simple Little Tea Light

When I was going through some of my supplies the other day, I found these cute little jars that I forgot I had.  They are the kind you can sit up as you see here or you can angle them to one side since they have two flat spots on the jars.  I wanted to keep them simple so the light given off by the tea light could be seen.  So, I used White Craft Ink and stamped a Mixed Blossom on White Vellum and punched them out with the Blossom Punch.  I attached the blossom to the front of the jar using a really nice vellum adhesive that I found a local store.  It adheres well and it is invisible.  I was thrilled when I used it on these jars.  To the center of the blossom I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewels colored with permanent marker.  Although it is seen in the photo, I did add some ribbon along the cap.  Super cute!

Stamp Set(s):  Mixed Blossom; Ink(s):  Whisper White Craft Pad; Card Stock:  White Vellum;  Accessories & Tools:  Blossom Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

The tea light is battery operated so it can be replaced or, should you want, you could use a votive candle.  These will be on my display table at Friday night's fundraiser.

Oh, be sure to check out the latest Fall-i-Days Blog Hop that starts tonight.  A good place to start is from the following link:  Fall-i-Days Blog Hop.  See you there.

I'm Taking the Day Off!

Today finds me out of time so I'll not be sharing anything new with you.  Yes, I know I said I have this certain project done and keep telling you it will be tomorrow.  Some plans just don't pan out the way you think they will.  But, I do get the spend the day with my youngest son.  That is always a plus in my day.  For now, please enjoy this beautiful fall picture (yes, I do think a field of pumpkins is beautiful) and I'll be back tomorrow.

Kath's Halloween Card

As you can see, I didn't share the project I had mentioned in yesterday's post.  Plans had to change since I didn't get the project done as I had hoped.  So much to do, so little time and I really did need to sleep last night.  Instead, I'm sharing a card that I received from a fellow stamper and llama friend, Kath Ricks.  She always does such great water coloring.  I keep saying I'm going to go spend a week with her and learn how she does it.

Thanks, Kath, for sharing this with me.  I don't make many Halloween cards, but I love trees and I love old houses and this definitely has those elements.

Color Me Beautiful Challenge 5

Today's card is the one I made for the current Color Me Beautiful Challenge.  It was an experiment in fun since I made my flower out of ribbon.  I want a unique and unusual flower and I'd say I found it.  I love how these colors Sahara Sand, River Rock, Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant blended so well together.  To see all of the beautiful projects for this challenge, just click on the following link, http://colormebeautifulchallenge.blogspot.com/ and it will take you right to their blog.

Stamp Set(s):  Delicate Doilies, Loving Thoughts; Ink(s):  Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder; Card Stock:  River Rock, Sahara Sand, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder; Accessories & Tools:  Top Note Die, 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon/Wisteria Wonder, Antique Brads, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Crystal Effects, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

Tomorrow I'll show you the project I was working on over the weekend.  It took longer than I thought simply because I kept changing my mind.  A woman's prerogative, right?
